Other
From your President

What an amazing get together of professional and like-minded people the NZ Beauty Expo and NZ Beauty Tech Conference has provided. Both events give us the opportunity to expand our knowledge and see and hear the new advances in technology and products in the professional beauty field. It is a delight to get together with the industry over the three days, and a wonderful opportunity to catch up with people from out of town: distributors, clinic owners, therapists and students from New Zealand and overseas.

On a personal note, I recently had a dear friend who has been very ill and it was at this time I realised how much I rely upon love and support from both colleagues and friends. This difficult time in my life bought home to me the meaning of the word gratitude.

I believe gratitude is a word we should use more often, so that it becomes part of our lives and we become constantly grateful for what our life is. For me, that revolves around all the wonderful friends that have contributed towards my role over the years as President. I am lucky to be surrounded by people on both the executive and the BeautyNZ magazine, who provide constant love and support and help steer the ship in the right direction.

It is important to write down all the things you feel grateful for on a daily basis. The more you embrace gratitude the more you will experience it. And particularly be grateful for the things that challenge us in our lives as this helps us understand others.

The beauty industry is a caring professional collection of dedicated people who work hard to achieve excellence in their careers and businesses. Our involvement in the NZ Beauty Awards this year has proved very rewarding for all. It takes a great deal of time and effort to organise these awards, and the executive are very grateful to Rachel Robertson who spearheaded the supervision of the procedures and established an excellent team of judges. We would like to thank all the entrants for making an effort and congratulate the winners, who are recognised as being at the top of their field.

In signing off – I would like to thank you all for your constant vigilance in maintaining our professional standards and for keeping us at the forefront of good business practices.

Judy
